Above image shows one of the first commercial record sleeves designed in 1939 by Alex Steinweiss, he was the first art director for Columbia Records, where he explored the concept of album covers and cover art, before recorded music was sold in plain, undecorated packaging. The other image shows a recent release by the group Blur.
