Using digital sampling technology, Murphy has sampled the colour content from a series of iconic art from the 19th & 20th Centuries.
The final works take the form of a grid made up of 247 colour swatches that show the colour content of each piece but without any formal structure. The series emphasises society’s current obsession with remixed, repackaged cultural content and cultural reappropriation.
